Giant Demo was a fun success!

We had some folks visit the tent who had planned to test ride bikes and some who hadn’t planned at all. The turnout was beyond what we expected with even a few young ones trying out the x-small bikes riding along with their parents.  Joe rode the Defy Advanced and its competition equivalent the TCR Advanced and loved them both. The white Team bike in the photo way below is the same as the one that just won the Giro D’italia under Rabobank rider Denis Menchov.

We gotta thank Mother Nature for the great weather and Luke and Guy from Giant for their work in setting up the Demo and doing a great job in fitting up and answering all of the questions. Many thanks to Helen Bridgeo at Rockwood Park for reserving the space for us.

Visit the Giant Demo from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the big Fisher Lakes Parking lot on Wednesday June 3.  You can test ride the bikes within the Park roadways and parking lots but be aware there is road construction and one way traffic on the Lily Lake side so we advise you not to go way at all. As with all of our events, if you have any questions call the shop at 652-2453.

Again we’ll roll exploring the streets and roads of Saint John, this time it’s a “trip back East”.  A loop around the South End peninsula, crossing the Causeway then a  false flat climb to Champlain Heights / Grandview then it’s a gradual step down back to sea level with only the Refinery hill in the way.

Here is the route map for your viewing pleasure – Map

Tuesday 20/20 easy roller – May 12 Route
May 11, 2009, 8:17 pm
Filed under: 20/20 ride route maps

This Tuesday looks as if it’s going to be  dry as bone and maybe sunny. Let’s get out and head North to the loop we’re calling “Heck of the North” which features the charming old North End, the SJ River, a jaunt through the wealthy burbs of Millidgeville and a mad dash through the Rifle Range before going back to the starting point on Long Wharf. The fitness portion of this ride is probably the Km’s 8-11 on Kennebecasis Drive before turning on to Sandy Point Rd. The route map is here – we depart at 6:15pm sharp from Long Wharf :

*** Update – This ride saw great weather and the traffic wasn’t heavy to break up our group of seven. We ran into a bottleneck on University avenue due to construction one westbound lane only + a wrong way driver but that was the only bad encounter. The last part of the route around km 19 has to be re-routed because Clarendon is one way. We’ll probably do Main St and turn right onto Douglas next time.******
